Miriam Rubino, LMFT

Miriam Rubino is a bilingual (Spanish/English) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist at The Child Therapy Institute of Marin (CTIM) in San Rafael, CA, serving the Marin County community. As a leader of CTIM’s Adult Managed Care Program, Miriam specializes in working with adults, offering trauma-informed, culturally sensitive therapeutic services through an integrative and holistic approach.

Miriam incorporates somatic and embodied modalities to help clients connect deeply with their inner experiences and foster mind-body healing. She is also trained in psychedelic-assisted therapy and Ketamine-Assisted Therapy, providing cutting-edge support for those seeking transformative growth and relief from trauma, depression, and anxiety. Her therapeutic toolbox blends evidence-based practices with Expressive Arts Therapy, EMDR, and Mindfulness to create a personalized and effective path to healing.

Miriam earned her Master’s in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Expressive Arts Therapy from the California Institute of Integral Studies. Her professional experience includes roles at nonprofit organizations such as Parent Services Projects, Episcopal Community Services of San Francisco, and the Liberation Institute. She has extensive experience working with individuals, couples, and families, including those who have faced significant challenges like trauma, immigration, homelessness, and community violence.

Her work is grounded in existential, humanistic, and attachment-based frameworks, with a strong emphasis on somatic and expressive arts approaches. Whether helping adults process life transitions or supporting children through Play Therapy, Miriam creates a compassionate space for healing and growth.

Before her career as a therapist, Miriam worked as an expressive arts educator in Bay Area elementary schools. She also facilitated art therapy programs in East Africa, working in drug rehabilitation centers and youth-focused peace and conflict resolution initiatives.

When not providing therapy, Miriam enjoys forest bathing, hiking, yoga, art journaling, plant and herbal work, and dancing. These practices fuel her creativity and mindfulness, which she brings into her work to help clients find their own balance and authenticity.
