Kacy Barton, AMFT
Kacy Barton is a bilingual (Spanish/English) Associate Marriage and Family Therapist at the Child Therapy Institute, where she works with clients of all ages in Oakland, San Pablo, and at Berkeley Arts Magnet. She incorporates play therapy, sandtray, storytelling, and a variety of arts modalities, allowing clients to lead her through their unique processes. Operating relationally and collaboratively, Kacy uses a strengths-based and polyvagal lens to support her clients.
Before becoming a therapist, Kacy spent a decade working in public schools in D.C. and Oakland, primarily with newcomers to the country and individuals with neurodivergence. She now blends her experience in education and therapy as an early childhood mental health consultant, supporting preschool teachers in the Bay Area to better meet the emotional needs of young children.
Kacy has pursued training in a range of therapeutic approaches, including horticultural and nature-based therapy, mindfulness, drumming and singing, the Enneagram, gender inclusivity in Spanish-language therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and complex trauma work.
Outside of therapy, Kacy enjoys using her hands, exploring nature, tending to her small garden, and connecting with others through games and dancing.
