Ian Shaw-Zak, AMFT
Ian Shaw-Zak (he/they) is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT #124589) and a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist and Educator (RSMT/E) specializing in sensorimotor development and supporting highly sensitive individuals in managing and soothing their diverse nervous systems.
Ian holds a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Somatics from John F. Kennedy University and is a graduate of the Child Therapy Institute. Their approach to somatic psychotherapy is client-centered and relational, focusing on positive reinforcement, secure foundations, and cultivating skills for flexible, creative engagement with life.
In addition to their therapy practice, Ian continues to teach Dynamic Embodiment™ classes in workshop and retreat settings. He is deeply influenced by Jungian thought, actively studying methods of engaging with the symbolic and transpersonal through movement as well as expressive arts and traditional ways of knowing.
