Workshop Series: Addiction And The Impact on Children and Families

Children are profoundly impacted by parent’s and caregiver’s addictions. Children developing in an addictive system need a place to recover. In this workshop we will come to understand the nature of addiction. Participants will engage in experiential arts processes for the purpose of coming to know how addiction functions. We will explore how addiction affects the child’s psyche, behaviors and relationships to self and other. Sandplay will be a focus of how children can heal from an addictive family system. Case material will be presented. Participants are asked to bring case material, especially Sandplay cases, to be explored in the group.
